8 Days Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro- Rongai Route

Day 1: Arrival – Arusha
On arrival you will be picked from the airport and drive to either Arusha or Moshi for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Rongai Gate (1950m) – 1st Caves camp (2600m) 5 hours hike
Breakfast, transfer to Marangu park gate with a transfer (approximately 2 ½ hours) to the Rongai trailhead. Have a briefing and begin your hike from the Nale Moru village. You will have dinner and overnight at 1st Caves camp

Day 3: 1st Cave (2600m) – Kikelewa Cave (3600m) 6-7 hours hike
Today you will hike towards Kibo, passing Second Cave (3450m) en-route, and reaching Kikelwa Cave at about 3600 metres. Dinner and overnight at 3rd Cave camp (Kikelewa Caves).

Day 4: Kikelewa Cave (3600) – Mawenzi Tarn camp (4330m) 3-4 hours hike
Today you will hike to Mawenzi Tarn camp where you will have dinner and overnight stay

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn camp (4330m) – Kibo hut (4700m) 4-5 hours Hike
You will continue ascending on the east side of Kibo crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo Hut. Dinner and Overnight at Kibo Camp

Day 6: SUMMIT: Kibo hut (4700m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Horombo hut (3720m) 8 hours to reach Uhuru – 6 hours to descend to Horombo
Rise up very early , have a hot cup of tea and take the rocky path to the Hans Meyer Cave (5150m), then zigzags up to Gillman’s point (5 681m), which is located on the crater rim. Proceed and hike to Uhuru peak (5895m), the highest point in Africa. Have some time here and later descend to Kibo hut and then down to Horombo hut where you will have dinner and overnight stay

Day 7: Horombo hut (3720m) – Marangu Gate (1980m) 6 hours hike
Breakfast, descend passing via Mandara hut, down to the Marangu gate. Drive back to Arusha or Moshi. Dinner and overnight at the ldoge

Day 8: Departure
Breakfast transfer to the Airport for your departure,
