4 Days Mgahinga Gorillas & Batwa Trail

Day 1: Kampala-Mgahinga National park

Breakfast, be picked from your residence and drive or fly to Mgahinga National park. It is 33.7sq kms and is tucked in the south-western part of Uganda, Bufumbira County, Kisoro district in the Virunga ranges. Three redundant volcanoes make up the part of the Virunga ranges. The tallest of the three is Mountain Muhavura 4127 metres above sea level, mountain Gahinga 3474 metres above sea level, mountain Sabinyo, 3669 metres above sea level. Wildlife found in the National park includes Guereza colobus and golden (blue) monkey, Caruther’s mountain, Boehm’s and Rwenzori sun squirrels, buffaloes, Bushbuck, Elephants, Serval cat, Side-striped jackal, honey badger and striped weasel among others. You will have lunch enrote. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 2: Gorilla tracking

Breakfast, go for gorilla tracking. The only group to be tracked is the Nyakagezi comprising of 2 silverbacks, four juveniles and infants and 3 adult female. Depending on the tracking time taken you can either have picnic lunch or lunch at the lodge. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Batwa Trail and community walks

Breakfast and take the Batwa trail. The Batwa people used to inhabit in the Bwindi forest, they used to live in caves and no longer live there anymore. The batwa trail will take you to where these people used to live and where they live currently. You will get to enjoy their culture, dances and get to socialize with them. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Mgahinga National Park – Kampala

Early breakfast, drive or fly back to Kampala. You will have lunch and a few stopovers en-route. You will be dropped off at a place of your choice in Kampala or at the airport.
