3 Days Semuliki National Park Safari

This 3 Days Wildlife Safari takes you to Semuliki National Park, a remote national park in Western Uganda. Located in Bundibugyo, this unique park consists of both forests and savanna grasslands. The park is dominated by the easternmost extension of the great Ituri Forest. This is one of Africa’s most ancient and bio-diverse forests One of the notable attractions not to miss in the park are the hotsprings – the Female and Male Hotspring.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Semuliki National Park

Breakfast, be picked from your residence and drive or fly to Semliki National Park which is located in the remote part of Bundibugyo district in Bwamba County in the western part of Uganda in the Albertine Rift, in the western arm of the East African rift. It has a size of 194 km2 and vegetation is tropical rain forest and swamps.

The park has more than 400 bird species, for example the rare Forest Ground Thrush and Sassi’s Olive Greenbul, Long-tailed Hawk, Forest Francolin, Nkulengu Rail, Western Bronze-napped Pigeon, Black-collared Lovebird, Yellow-throated Cuckoo, Lemon-bellied Crombec, Brown-crowned Eremomela, Blue-headed Crested Flycatcher, Ituri Batis.

The park has over 60 mammal species, including forest buffalos, leopards, hippos, Mona Monkeys, water chevrotains, bush babies, civets, elephants, and the Pygmy Flying Squirrel. Have lunch on arrival and later take an afternoon game drive to enjoy the nocturnal animals.

Day 2: Full Day Game Viewing in Semuliki

Today you can go for a morning and afternoon game drive or have a morning game drive and in the afternoon visit the pygmies. The game drive is rewarding, you get to see many animals and the Sempaya hot springs. Those interested in birding, you can have a full day of bird watching on this day. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Semuliki National Park – Kampala

Early breakfast, drive or fly back to Kampala. You will have a few stopovers en-route. You will be dropped off at a place of your choice in Kampala or at the airport.
