9 Days Tour Selous, Mikumi and Ruaha National Parks
Day 1: drive to Selous
Our safari representative will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and drive you to Selous game reserve. Approach the reserve from the east and check into Rufiji river camp. This park is located in the north eastern part of Selous on a high bank overlooking the mighty Rufiji river plain beyond. View one of Africa’s highest concentration of hippopotami. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji river camp.
Day 2: Selous game reserve
Pre- breakfast game drive in Selous game reserve; Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary, covering 54,600sq.km.You may see large numbers of big game like buffalo, rhino, elephant, sable antelope; wildebeest like: eland, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, impala, hippo, leopard and lion. There area over 350 species of birdlife in this reserve. Midmorning breakfast, followed by a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji river camp.
Day 3: boat trip on Rufiji River
After breakfast, have a boat trip on river Rufiji to view water birds and aquatic wildlife. Return to he camp for lunch. After lunch have a guided nature walk to experience African bush life and wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji river camp.
Day 4: to Mikumi national park
After breakfast, drive to Mikumi national park. Stop over for lunch enroute to Mikumi. Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hill or Mikumi Wildlife Camp.
Day 5: to Ruaha national park
After breakfast, drive to Ruaha national park; with a lunch stop over in Iringa. Proceed to Ruaha; and on your arrival, have a game drive in the park. some of the parks wildlife species you may see include: elephant, impala, waterbuck, lion, cheetahs, leopards, striped and spotted hyena; African wild dog, Grant’s gazelle, lesser kudu, sable and roan antelope; and greater kudu. The park boasts of 450 bird species including: crested barbet, yellow-and-black bird, yellow-collared lovebird and ashy starling. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha River lodge.
Day 6: Ruaha national park
Pre-breakfast game drive followed by midmorning breakfast and lunch later on. After lunch, have another game drive in the afternoon. Retire for dinner and overnight at Ruaha river lodge.
Day 7: back to Mikumi
Pre-breakfast game drive followed by mid- morning breakfast. Exit Ruaha and head for Iringa where you will have lunch. Leave Iringa arriving in Mikumi national park. Game drive in the park followed by dinner and overnight at Vuma Hill or Mikumi Wildlife Camp.
Day 8: back to Dar- es salaam
Pre-breakfast game drive in Mikumi; where you may see: buffalo, elephant, lion, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, impala and hippo. Have lunch then exit Mikumi for Dar-es-salaam arriving in the evening.
