Tanzania Wildebeest Migration and Culture Safari
Day 1: Arrival
On your arrival at Kilimanjaro airport you will be met by our company representative. You will be transferred to Mt. Kilimanjaro view lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Manyara
After your breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing. Enjoy your lunch in the park picnic area. animals you may see in this park include tree-climbing lions, hippos, baboons, tree climbing lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, klipspringer, dik-dik, monkeys, giraffes and native bird species like flamingos, pelicans, storks and cormorants. Evening game drive enroute to your lodge/ campsite. Dinner and overnight at Manyara.
Day 3: to Serengeti
Early breakfast followed by departure for the Serengeti plains. You will have a game drive enroute via Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You can relax and have lunch on your arrival in the park. Alternatively, you can have a game drive in the park to locate the direction of the migrants. Dinner and Overnight in the Serengeti at Serengeti Serena Lodge/ Serengeti Sopa Lodge/ Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp.
Day 4: Game Drive in Serengeti
Have a hearty breakfast after which depending on the time of the year expect to witness wildebeest migrate. Other animals you can view in the park include lions, elephants, giraffe, zebras, Monkey, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes as well as a multitude of birds. Dinner and Overnight in the Serengeti at Serengeti Serena Lodge/ Serengeti Sopa Lodge/ Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp.
Day 5: Serengeti Southern Area
After breakfast, equipped with packed lunch with you proceed to Serengeti National Park a recently proclaimed a 7th world wide wonder. The Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti will offer you arguably the best game-viewing opportunities in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle. The migration can be seen on a long chain approximately 40 Km heading to the south western direction. (Subject to arrivals made in the wildebeest migration period). Break off for lunch at around one then proceed with your game viewing following the move of the migrants on the southwest of the park. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Lodge/ Campsite.
Day 6: to Olduvai gorge
Pre-breakfast morning game drive in Serengeti national park; followed by midmorning breakfast. Have lunch then leave Serengeti stopping over at the Olduvai Gorge. View Louis and Mary Leakey’s archaeological discoveries including man’s earliest ancestral remains. Proceed to the Ngorongoro conservation area. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.
Day 7: Ngorongoro conservation area
Early breakfast, followed by a 2000 feet descent; to the Ngorongoro crater floor. Have a crater tour of the forests where you may view monkeys, lake area with flamingo; and in the open savanna the big five: lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and leopard. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater area. Dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Sopa lodge.
Day 8: to Tarangire national park
After breakfast leave Ngorongoro crater area. Set off for Tarangire national park equipped with your packed lunch. View the majestic baobab trees whilst having a game drive in the park. You may possibly see leopards, lions, giraffes and if you are lucky even tree-climbing pythons! In the dry season you will spot birds like the Kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird; the stocking-thighed ostrich, the world's largest bird; ground hornbills, yellow-collared lovebird, rufous-tailed weaver and ashy starling. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire safari lodge.
Day 9: Tarangire cultural tour
After breakfast, embark on a cultural experience by visiting the local tribes that neighbour the Tarangire area. Visit the Masai and Datoga tribes. Listen to their history, enjoy a few cultural dances and observe their way of living. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire safari lodge.
Day 10: to Arusha
After breakfast, leave Tarangire with your packed lunch and head for Arusha town. On arrival get ready for transfer to Kilimanjaro international airport to catch your home flight.
