Mount Elgon Hike
TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Kampala - Mount Elgon National Park
Depart for Mount Elgon situated in the Eastern part of Uganda. The Mountain is said to have one of the largest surface areas of any extinct volcano in the world. Mount Elgon is endowed with the most beautiful caves, cliffs, gorges and waterfalls in the country. Stop over in Mbale for lunch.
Dinner and overnight at the Sipi Falls Rest Camp.
Day 2: Hike - Kapkwai - Mount Elgon
After breakfast visit the exploration center at Kapkwai in the Chebonet valley and take the Mountain Bamboo Trail traversing a 7km loop across the River and the Southern rim of the gorge. Picnic lunch.
Overnight at the Rest Camp.
Day 3: Hike - Sasa Trail - Mount Elgon
After breakfast we’ll take a full day on the Sasa Trail to see the dramatic landscapes from the high altitude and moorland. Picnic lunch.
Dinner and overnight at the Rest Camp.
Day 4: Nature Walk - Return Trip - Kampala
After breakfast we’ll take a short forest walk. Drive back to Kampala in the afternoon.

ABOUT MOUNT ELGON NATIONAL PARK
Mt. Elgon National park is located near Mbale in the Eastern part of Uganda. The park covers 1,145 sq km. It is named after Mt Elgon (4,321m), an extinct Volcanic Mountain that lies on Uganda’s border with Kenya. Though the Mountain is shared by Uganda and Kenya its highest peak Wagagai peak (4321m) lies in Uganda. The mountain has got three other major peaks which are Kiongo (4303m), Mubiyi (4210m) and Jackson’s summit (4165m).
