9 Days Birding Safari in Kenya

Day 1: Depart from Nairobi to Masai Mara
After breakfast at the Hotel in Nairobi, you will depart for Masai Mara; you will arrive in time for lunch, Have lunch at your lodge and later transfer for the afternoon search for bird life such as the red winged scholars Turacco, Orange – buff pel’s fishing owl and flocks of wary crested guinea fowl. Return back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight at your lodge, Mara Simba Lodge/Mara Sopa Lodge. (FB)

Day 2: Full day Bird watching in Masai Mara
Have an early morning breakfast after which transfer for a full day birding experience in the Mara plains. You are advised to leave with your packed lunch. While in the plains, look out for birds like the large Jackson bustard. Day 3: Transfer to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, you will leave for Lake Naivasha which is commonly referred to as a bird watcher’s paradise in Kenya. Most bird species found in this place include: fish eagles and ospreys, herons and egrets, lily trorlters purple gallinishes, red knobbed coots and black cracks and African marsh harrlers. Dinner and overnight at Naivasha Sopa Lodge

Day 4: Transfer from Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, you will take a boat ride to the crescent island on Lake Naivasha for more birding. After this, transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch. The lake is famously known for its haunt of flamingos. the park also hosts birdlife such as the two interesting ducks, the cape pigeon a lover of blackish waters, and the stiff tailed maccoa duck, blacksmith plover, spurwing plover, crowned plover, kittliz’s plover, birds of prey includes, lanner, long crested eagle, augur buzzard, red-chested cuckoo, lillac breasted roller, grey headed kisher and bronzy and variable sunbirds. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or Similar

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Bogoria and Lake Baringo
After breakfast, you will drive north wards to Lake Bogoria and to Lake Baringo. En route you will be watching different bird species. In the after noon you will take an excursion to see the Hippos and other animals. Dinner and overnight at the campsite/lodge

Day 6: Full day birding on the Lakes
Have breakfast in the morning and then after take a boat cruise to watch out for water bird species such as Dark Chanting Goshawk, Silverbird, Cliffchats, Jackson’s and Yellow-billed hornbills, brown- tailed Rock Chat, Bristle-crowned Startling, Verreaux Eagle and Spotted Eagle Owl. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge/Campsite.

Day 7: Transfer to Samburu
After breakfast, you will leave for Samburu to arrive in time for lunch. The park is very rich in terms of birdlife and there is no difficulty in seeing over a hundred species of birds in one day. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Lodge or Similar

Day 8: Full day bird watching in Samburu
Pre breakfast, birdwatching and game drive is done full day with view of the Masai ostrich, buffalo springs, in the reserve of that name is the drinking place in the dry season for literally thousands of sand grouse and doves in addition to a galaxy of smaller birds the tiny pygmy falcon is common,Lake Nakuru birding Safari, Bird Watching Kenya Safari, keekorok lodge, dinner and overnight, maasai mara the males blue grey and white the females with mahogany brown mantle. DAY 9: Bird Watching Kenya Safari: Samburu – Nairobi
After breakfast, have a game drive enroute to Nairobi to arrive in the early afternoon for lunch at Nairobi Safari Club or similar.
