3 Days : Queen Elizabeth National Park
Day 1:
Depart from Kampala at 7.30hrs and have a stopover at the Equator
for photos. Lunch at L. Vic Hotel, Mbarara. Drive through the
Volcanic formations of the Western Rift Valley towards Queen Elizabeth
National Park with an evening game drive as you proceed to Mweya
Safari Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, which
is beautifully situated on a bluff overlooking the Kazinga Channel
and Lake Edward.
Day 2:
Early morning game drive with a magnificent view of the Rwenzoris
as backdrop provides an excellent opportunity to see lion, leopard,
giant forest hog, cape buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck,
Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck. After lunch enjoy the unique 2-hour
boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This
trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos.
Many animals may be seen drinking at the water edge. This launch
cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching
and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous
with well over 550 resident species. Dinner and overnight at Mweya
Safari Lodge.
Day 3:
A guided walk takes you into the tropical Kyambura Gorge in search
of chimpanzees. This hike involves climbing. In this unspoiled
environment, birds and butterflies are all around, and you might
also see primates. Drive back to Kampala with a stopover at Mbarara
for lunch.
NB. Extra nights at Mweya Safari Lodge with excursions
are available upon request, or combine QENP with gorillas or
chimpanzees in other Ugandan parks.
