Bwindi-Gorilla Trekking 3 days Safari
Day 1:
Depart from Kampala early morning and proceed south-west and have
a stop over at the Equator for photos. The drive takes you through
savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole
cattle with their incredible long curving horns. Then you ascend
into the Kigezi highlands, known as the "Switzerland of Africa",
with terraced farming and mountain scenery to Bwindi Impenetrable
Forest. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma.
Day 2:
Early morning entry into the Gorilla sanctuary. The rainforest
is spectacular. It offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape
and is incredibly dense, crisscrossed by numerous animal trails
allowing access to tourists. Mammals include the endangered Mt.
Gorillas, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black-fronted
duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog etc. This park is
best known for the fascinating flora. The time taken and the terrain
varies according to the movements of the marvelous primates. The
trill of observing the gorillas is a rare, moving and exciting
adventure. The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal. Dinner and
overnight at Buhoma.
Day 3:
After an early morning breakfast drive back to Kampala with a
stopover in Mbarara for lunch.
A note for Trekkers: Remember to bring heavy leather gloves,
stout hiking boots, long sleeves shirts, long pants, a light
back-pack, and water-bottle. In case you have more time you
can combine this tour with CTS2: Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Book Gorilla permits 4-12 months in advance to avoid disappointment.
